How to Make a Number Private on a Cell Phone

With today's technology, it's hard to keep anything secret anymore. Personal details for many people can be quickly found online, including addresses, phone numbers, occupations and hobbies. If you need to make a phone call from your cell phone, the call's recipient generally sees your number on his caller ID. If you would rather keep your cell phone number private, this can be done by dialing a few extra numbers before the number of the person you want to call.

Step 1

Power on your cell phone. Using the keypad, dial "*67."

Step 2

Press the "1" key, then dial the area code and phone number of the person you want to call.

Step 3

Press "Talk" or "Send" to place the phone call. The person you are calling can not see your number on her caller ID. Instead, it reads "Restricted" or "Private Call."
